The Most Important Factors For Internet Marketing

By Israel Rothman

For number 10 in this updated series that was so popular the first time around, I must repeat something that seems obvious to me, but is seldom followed: everything must work together for online marketing success; which means that the architect of the system - the guy in charge must be well versed and take into consideration all these factors: let us review the most important factors:

1. Following the rules: be careful whom you listen to!

You must avoid pack mentality to rank: millions of other people taking the same approach means that it will not work for top placement. That is why we have created a new way of meeting the criteria without breaking the rules using social media. It is site popularity, or what is referred to as importance, that matters most in achieving high results, because it is the hardest thing to fake.

2. Market with content, not advertising:strategy technology execution

Nobody cares that you are the top in your industry, how much you sell, how much you make, or what a nice face you have. People are looking for inventory (cars, real estate, clothing, books, investments) and/or information (consumer information, statistics, demographics, pricing information, quality testing, ratings, advice). In order to be found by these shoppers, you need to be found under what they are looking for.

3. Everything is new, dying, dead or golden:

In order to build real presence, you must not only get enough cards into the hat, you must get them to stay in the hat, when everybody else's are falling out of it.

4. Feed the search engines what they give away for free:

There is a science behind feeding your data to the search engines. It has become a complicated specialty. As the search engines and the Internet have become more and more complicated to avoid spam and clutter, the criteria for placement on the first page results of coveted search terms has become more stringent and the competition has increased.

5. Use social media marketing to build links and increase the poplarity of your website:

It is not good enough to optimize and submit your Web page; search engines must be able to find your page often by following links on other, related, updated, listed, submitted pages on other servers…

6. Target the right niche market, choose your battles wisely:

If you have been watching the Nielson Ratings lately, you know that when advertising on one of the top three shows for market share, even DEAL or No Deal, Dateline NBC, and America's Got Talent (the top three) only reach about 12,000,000 viewers each.

7. Be user friendly: make navigation easy and un-intrusive:

Nobody wants to refine a search by making complicated decisions, fill out a long form with required fields, go back when they missed one, or have anything pushed on them!

8. You must have a strong call to action, a reason to buy today if you want to make money:

Websites are no different from an in-person presentation in this regard: the goal is to get an inquiry; by phone, fax, email; the sale is to get somebody to inquire. The prospect will only respond if you can establish the above three requirements n the time allotted, which, online, may be precious little (often a fraction of a second)

9. Most of the best solutions are either free or not expensive: avoid expensive proprietary software:

There is much misinformation and scare tactics are common among vendors who have an ax to grind: they seek to scare you and keep you in the dark to control you and your purchases by keeping you ignorant and/or dependent on them for your technology.

10. Seek professional help: you would not represent yourself in court…

Social Media Marketing, Search Engine Marketing, and Online Public Relations have become sophisticated specialties: sorry, but I must say it: you cannot compete with people like us and our clients without professional help.
