Seth Godin and Tom Peters talk about the power of blogging at the Open Forum. Peters says it's the best marketing tool by a long shot.

HubSpot says there are 6 fundamental benefits to corporate blogging that should not be overlooked:

1) Gain Visibility as a Thought Leader

2) Engage Customers in a Dialogue

3) Every Blog Article is an SEO Opportunity

4) Blogs Are Link Bait

5) Humanize Your Brand

6) In Google, Fresher Content = Better Website

Why Small Businesses Should Blog:

"Blogging is one way to establish your credibility, and expose your business to the marketplace. It's great for establishing a niche, or promoting the niche you occupy. In short, business blogging can put your small business on an even footing with the big players in your market, and there's no reason you shouldn't take advantage of the opportunity to do that."

Before you rush and blog, take the time to figure a blogging strategy:

Why do you want to blog?

What will your measure of success be - readers, search visibility, more conversation?

Forrester Research says you need to use the POST formula: People, Objectives, Strategy and then Technology.

I totally agree that blogging is the best marketing tool by far, but I also believe that you need a blog strategy to make it be that wonder tool.
